Spirit House, Yandina

Tucked away in a rainforest in the heart of Sunshine Coast, Spirit House is not your everyday restaurant. As you enter you are greeted by lush tropical leaves all around you, and as you walk along the pathway, there are trickling of water, chimes of nature's music, miniature pagodas and even the sacred full size stone Buddha in a stupa bell.

This is not your quick dash dine in kind of place. A good 2 hours and a half or so would be more like it. The idea is that you truly immersed yourself in the tranquillity, a rather meditational kind of moments. Appreciating every breath, every second passed. It was drizzling whilst we were there and that created an even more Shangri-La-like atmosphere. I could stay there all day.

Warning: this is going to be a long post.

Their choice of ordering is flexible - that is, you do not have to order the same set menu per table. For a la carte, there are options of choosing one item from 3 sections or from 4 sections. The sections are small plates, entree, main, and dessert. As the season changes, I believe their menu changes too.

What we had...

Cocktails: (clockwise from L-R) Kaffir Lime & Tamarind Sour, Deep Passion, Lemongrass & Thai Basil Mojito

Kaffir Lime & Tamarind Sour - Bourbon, Cointreau, tamarind, sugar syrup and kaffir lime

Deep Passion - Kaffir lime infused vodka, white creme de cacao, passionfruit, pineapple, coconut, lime, falernum syrup

Lemongrass & Thai Basil Mojito - white rum, lime, Thai basil, lemongrass syrup, soda water

Starting with small plates

Here we have Masterstock Braised Pork Belly with citrus caramel and hot and sour salad. Delicious.

Finally publishing this, as this has actually been sitting in my draft for the past 2 years. (2024).
